Wedding Advice Card Dove Designs

I just got a new stamp set and have been working on these advice card designs. I love the elegance of these dove and olive branch advice cards. The olive green ink and ivory card stock is so pretty.

I also picked up this woodland stamp, another Studio G find, and made these woodland wishes or welcome little one advice cards. I used cocoa ink and colored the leaves and trees with a green colored pencil.

I'm working on some new covers and book designs for putting together the advice cards when the event is done. I've seen boxes for the cards, but I'm thinking a front and back cover with either book rings or pre punched and tied inside as a book will look nice, too.

What do you think?

Baby Shower Advice Cards

One of my husband's cousins are expecting a new baby in the first weeks of March. Since alot of the family members live at different distances, I created this advice cards using the Zoology Stamp Set.

Each card will be slipped in with invitations, that way the card can be sent back filled with advice if the guest can't attend the baby shower.  I used some beige marblized paper from my stack, but thinking these would also look cute on some colonial white with distressed edges too!

Of course, I'm working on the album to slip all these awesome cards in at the baby shower for the new mom to look back on later and hand down when the baby gets older!

Baby Zoology Book

I got the new Zoology stamp set a few weeks ago and I've been seeing so many cute projects that you all have been making with it, that I couldn't resist making one of my own. I've chosen to use it on this zoology baby shower book. How cute is that?

Bella says it's "Retro" I didn't even know she knew that word! LOL..

Mini Smash Book

I've been hearing a ton about smash books lately. Apparently, EK Success has a blank version of a smash book out that you can buy and make your own. I decided to give it a try. I came to realize that I've been making "smash" books for quite some time and just hadn't been calling them that.

I used my Bind it All, a bunch of scraps from my paper bin, and CTMH Roxie Acrylic Stamp Set to make this one.

There are probably way to many photos here, but bear with me, I wanted to show you some samples of where I stamped and the different sizes of papers I used in this book.
I stamped a little too hard on the left page and got a smudge of CTMH Cocoa Ink. Ordinarily, I'd rip out the page because it wasn't perfect. However, because this is a smash book, it isn't ment to be perfect, so my mistake just may turn out to become part of something special.

These are a set of little half pages I put in. If you've ever got those paper stacks of cut up papers from a local scrapbook supply store, you've probably seen these or have some in your stash.

Most of the pages in this book are 5 1/4" square. But you'll find some are 3" and 4" wide x 5 1/4" too. I used mainly pink and hot pink with a few ivory pages.
I have this habit on not being able to throw away left over scraps of ribbon and paper. Bug wanted to help, so I left her use my stamp sets and stamp out some roses, hearts, and other images that we cut out of white card stock. Then we took a handful of tags, embellishments, scrap ribbons, and stickers and stuck them in a little clear bag to cooridnate with our smash book. Bell added a fuzzy pen and asked if she could have it as a christmas exchange gift for one of her friends in girl scouts.

What a neat idea. Don't you think?

Baby Girl Shower Card

One of the guys Chad works with just became a first time father. The guy is probably walking on cloud nine while his poor wife is exhausted. Oh, but the joy a baby brings to our lives!

Yesterday, I went out and bought a small gift, as we were invited to a gathering to welcome the new baby. All that pink frilly stuff almost had me wishing my girls were that little again. Almost. :)

I made this cute little pink card to go with the gift.

I've almost got everything set up in my new studio. I'll give a peek inside once it's all finished. Until then, I have a few more treats up my sleeves for you this week and some up coming videos and tutorials. :)

Happy Days Card

Last week's H2H Challenge was CASE (copy and share everything). Several cards by other talented card designers were pictured in order to pick a card of inspiration. I was immediately drawn to the second card by Brenda. "Follow Your Dreams".

Mostly, because I've been waiting for a project to inspire me to use this stamp set as a card and not just on the cover or inside pages of one of my books.

My husband just started a new job yesterday in a new career field and thought this would be both inspiring to him and encouraging. What do you think?

This card measures 3.5" x 8."
And I used Pondersa Pine, Colonial White, and Creme Brulee Card Stock.
The stamp set is Life's Good  D1495. I believe it is retired now.

We're getting ready for back to school this week and the kids and I have come with some really cute back to school projects to share with you.

Together We Can Create a Smile

I snapped three needles in half stitching a book this morning, as I've been anxiously awaiting my new Close To My Heart Consultant Package. I've really never been one to store up much patience. It's like Christmas morning when that package arrives. I just can't wait!

But in the meantime, I wondered if any of you noticed the new widgets on my blog? Most importantly, did you see the one that says Together we can create a smile?

Even though Bell, my oldest wasn't born with a cleft lip, she was born with a hemangioma on her upper lip. But she and I agree that we can appreciate what these children a going through. It's tough being different.

What is the first thing you look at when you see someone? It's more than a face, it's their smile. And it is a great feeling to make someone smile, don't you think? Isn't that why we send a card to a friend whose feeling down or sick? How about celebrating those moments like birthdays and graduations and wedding? They make you smile.

Everyone should have a beautiful smile. Together we can make that happen.

I've added the widget to the blog along with a donation tally starting here in the month of August.

Did you know that every time you make a purchase from Close To My Heart, that a small portion goes to Operation Smile? It's one of those little factors that teetered me over the edge to becoming a consultant. And I wanted everyone to see their contributions as well. So every month I'll be updating that number, and hopefully we'll turn those zeros into larger numbers before the end of the month.

Yesterday, I shared with you the great two for one deal that is going on this month through Close To My Heart. But in just a few days, an additon offer is coming your way. So stay tuned.

Until then, I've got to go get a new pack of needles to finish stitching up a very special baby shower guest book.

Wedding Greeting Cards

Diecuts with a View Luxury 12 Inch by 12 Inch Paper Stack

Every once in a while my scrap paper pile starts over flowing on me. So over the weekend, I decided to see what I could do with some of my scraps. Since we've been featuring a lot of wedding theme books lately, I thought I'd make some wedding greeting cards.

These were simple cards to make. I admitt, I bought a pack of blank cards by EK Success.

These two cards were made using paper scraps from DCWV Luxury Pack.

The wedding day stamp, I believe comes from Inkadoo's collection of clear stamps.

I would give you sizes to cut and instructions to make your own, but since I used the precut blank cards I'll just tell you that the first layer of card stock is 1/2 inch smaller than the card base, and the next layer - the layer from DCWV paper- is 1/2 inch smaller than that.

I used 1/2" ribbon and wrapped it around my print paper before attaching it to my colored paper. Then I attached the layers of paper and ribbon to the card base.

Next, I stamped "Wedding Day" on white card stock, and cut another piece of colored card stock 1/4" larger for the boarder piece. Then I adhered it to the ribbon binding.

May All Your Dreams Come True

Something blue just got more interesting with this golden rod blue bird guest book album!

From the glossy bird cover and this bird stamp (below) this book was inspired.

"May all your DREAMS come true." What a sweet saying for the front page of this guest book album. It's so versatile, for a wedding, bridal shower, graduation, even a retirement party. I like how the bird is in flight, because isn't that how we all are? When we're getting married, starting a new journey in our life, we're fluttering and taking flight toward a dream.

Beyond the dream of the front page of this guest book album, are the autograph pages stamped with this new floral design swag.
There's plenty of room between these stamped flowers for your guest to write advice, well wishes, and their name to create memories of your special day.

Unlike any of my other guest book albums, I took that last autograph page and did something extra special. This page is more of a transition from those special hand written notes to the photo card stock pages. So, I stamped it with the floral swag, then with the little snowflake flower stamp that leads us into the photo pages of the book.

As you can see the snowflake flowers then grace the photo pages and carry the floral theme throughout this book.

May All Your Dreams Come True!

Valentines' Day Gift Wrap

Last Valentine's Day I needed some gift wrap to put together a package for my husband. Many times I'll use postal paper to wrap things going out in the mail and decided to design some heartfelt paper of my own.

If you're looking for a fun way to wrap up that Valentine's day present you can check out my article, How To Make DIY Stampin' It Up Gift Wrap Paper.

Have fun stamping!
