At Summer's End

The summer has just flown by and I swear I don't know here it went!!

Has school started where you all are at?

Just a few more days and the kiddos will be back in the education system during the day and mom here will have some more time to write and get some books made.

I know it's been a while since I've posted. I've been quite busy I assure you.

And I've made some more updates.

I've reinstated my newsletter. So if you were an old subscriber it will be coming back out here in September. September 12th - Beaverdale Book Fest - Beaverdale PA

September 19, 20 - New Germany Arts and Craft Festival, New Germany PA

I'll be adding October and November dates to the newsletter and updating the site with these soon.

Gray and White Vintage

I've been working on a new guest book cover design this week. I recently received a custom order request for something vintage inspired in gray and white.

Usually the first thing I do when I get a request like this is seek inspiration over at Google images. I love these three images that I found just searching under the phrase "gray white vintage"

This one really caught my eye with the yellow. There's nothing more inspiring then vintage frames right?

I' always looking for patterns of color when seeking inspiration for a new design. I really like the above pattern in gray and white, what a great background for a book cover or accent.

Then there is this card box by a fellow Etsy artist. I like the shabby distressed look of the box and the little detail of the silver and pearl between the flowers.

But I'm think with all the gray and white there needs to be a little pop of something. Maybe a color or something that just stands out.

Pin It in 2013

This year is going to fabulous!

It's a time to simply and try new things. So here in 2013 I'd like to invite you all to join me in organizing, simplifying, and beautifying our homes and our hearts. 

My shop remains open and I'm looking forward to the new challenges of designing one of a kind guest books, albums, in journals this coming year. But I'm also looking forward to designing some new creations as well and expanding my creativity for both everyday living and special events.

CTMH Open House Tonight

Last evening I mentioned that I spent the day preparing for my open house today. Here's just a little sneak peak of the little display I've got laid out of items in the fall/winter 2011 CTMH catalog.

And here is the card project I'll have laid out for everyone who attends to work on. I've divided up the task into stations. A stamping station and assembly station. We're using August Stamp of the Month - Wicked.

Just a reminder, there is only two days left to get WICKED for just $5.00 with any CTMH order of $50.00 or more!

I'll have sign up sheets for upcoming workshops available and if you haven't sign up for my newsletter yet, please do so! The September newsletter will be coming out after Labor Day.

I'm so excited to invite you all to my open house for a fun filled night of games, crafting, and socializing with great friends. Oh and lets not forget good food.

A Whirlwind of paper, fabric, and thread

I have to admit that coming to the end of June has been like being dropped off by a tornado in the middle of nowhere with just my paper, fabric, and thread scattered around me. What a mess!!

Last week, I closed up the studio and headed off to a book conference. What a blast!

However, I'm back in my studio now and happy to get back to being with family and getting back to work. I've got several projects lined up this next week, including a tea party guest book in lavender. I can't wait to get started on that one!

First however, I'll be heading out on Friday to help my mom prepare potato salad for 200 people. Yikes! (That's a lot of potato salad!) Family weddings are awesome, don't you think?

It takes a family to support and keep a marriage going, especially through those first few years when things can get a little rocky. I love how families can pull together and be there for one another, even when it means a pot luck dinner or supplying enough potato salad for a mob. :)
