Journaling Idea #3 - It's all about your day

This week's journal tip comes from Journalbuddies.com.

This site has a lot of innovate journal ideas for children. Which has inspired me to post not only adult journal ideas, but to add a weekly KIDS IDEA post to the blog too.  I've also added their link to the side bar of this blog if  you'd like to jump over and check it out. :)

Thank you journalbuddies.com for today's inspiration.

Everyday can be an ordinary day, a creative day, or a special day in our lives.  But today's journal idea challenges you to rethink your day and compose it in 20 words or less.

Yep, think about your day and in twenty words or less describe your day in your journal this week.

Get creative! Instead of saying my day was was "Fine" look up and learn new words through a thesaurus. That "fine" day just might turn out to be a "beautiful", "outstanding", "rare", "not to shabby" day.  When we are able to use specific words to describe how we are feeling, events, and situations, it helps us and others (if we choose to share) relate better to our world. (It's an old writer's technique to keep readers involved into a story.)

This journal idea and challenge is also recommended and can be a lot of fun with a child.  Who knows you and your child may want to exchange journals and see how your day compares to theirs!

Have fun!

March Madness Journal Challenge #5

On the fifth day my true love brought to me: Five Golden Rings.

When I think of five golden rings, I think of the olympics that just ended in Canada.  Since the Olympics alternates and the winter Olympics only happens every four years, it's something you may want to tell your grandkids about.

Today's challenge is an Olympic memorial.

Using markers, crayons, pencil, or pen. Draw five rings representing the Olympics on a page in your journal.

In each ring, write down your top five favorite events you watch or keep tabs on during the Olympics. For example: figure skating, speed skating, cross country sking, luge, and snow boarding.

Anywhere on the page write down the names of atheletes particpating in the 2010 Winter Olympics that you heard about the most. You can even go as far as writing a sentence or two on what you thought about those athletes or the Olympics overall.

March Madness Journal Challenge #3

Okay so yesterday we got a little deep, diving into your childhood. How did that come out? Alright?

Today on a new page, write the lyrics to your favorite song.

Oh, and did I forget to mention, you have to write them upside down on the page. :p

If you can't remember all the words to the song  replace the forgotten words with "Falalalalalala".

That was just silly wasn't it? Go ahead when your finished and rip out the page, crumble it up, and toss it in the waste basket.

No wait! That was your favorite song, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said throw it away.  You'd best retrieve it. Smooth out the page and tape it back into your journal with the lyrics right side up. You never know when you might need those lyrics to serenade your sweetheart.

March Madness Journal Challenge #2

Yesterday, you spent some time decorating the front cover of your journal and writing your name on the first page. Other than the decorating part, writing your name was pretty simple right?

Today, flip to the next blank page in your journal and do the following:

1. When I was a kid I wanted to be three things when I grew up, I wanted to be a farmer like my dad, a writer, and an olympian equestrain. I got waylaid and became an accountant before realizing I've always been a writer.

Now you, write down and record the three things you wanted to be. Put an astrik beside the one thing you wanted to be most.

2. So what happened? Record why or why not you became those three things.

Got Your Notebook or Journal?

Well, here it is... tomorrow is the big day!

Got your notebook or journal ready for the March Madness Journal Challenge?

Yesterday, I stopped in at my local Surplus Outlet and grabbed a composition notebook just for this month's challenge.

I'm excited to get started, and I hope you all are too.

I've spent the past week preparing, but not getting too prepared. This is a random challenge afterall, so what fun would it be if I had everything plan out right?

So if you haven't done so yet, grab a journal or notebook, and sign up. Tomorrow starts the first day of the March Madness Journal Challenge.

Are you up for the challenge?

Coming Soon...March Madness Journal Challenge

Last evening as I sat working on cutting the pages of a new journal I got to thinking. (I know, my husband tells me that can be dangerous - thinking.) March is soon upon us.

It made me think about all the things that happen in the upcoming month, like my son's birthday, Saint Patrick's Day, Tax deadlines, and kite flying. But as I sat putting together a new journal it also made me think about how March is a month that can wind us up and let us go like a spinning top.

March either comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb or visa versa. Some days are windy and cold, some days it may snow, or some days may be spring like and pleasant. This is where I think of the "March Madness" syndrome we can all fall into.

So that's why last night, randomly like a March day, I decided to start the March Madness Journal Challenge. The key of this challenge is do random fun things, on random days to a note book to create your own journal. The goal of this challenge is to relieve stress and have fun with journaling.

Each day you will be given something random to do inside your journal. Then go on for the entire month of March. At the end of the challenge, for those who participate I will be giving away a free prize that I will picture on my website and here on the blog March 1st along with a more detailed guidelines and how this challenge will work.

I'm so excitied! For all of you who tell me all the time that you just don't have time to journal or don't know what to write, I challenge you to get started with me on March 1, 2010.

I will be posting the challenge daily on my blog and website. Be sure to add this site to your dailly RSS feed.

I'm so excited (oops I already said that) for the 1st annual March Maddness Journal Challenge!

Stay tuned... more details yet to come!!
