The Weekend Crafter

So this past month has been a real whirl wind. It's also opened my eyes alot to the fact that I'm not wonder woman or super mom or any of those titles that us women who try to do everything label ourselves with. I'm glad in many ways that the winds of the storm came and turned our household upside down. It made me open my eyes and realize that I'm one person with a lot of responsibility.

But the two most important responsibilities lay within my family. The responsibility to my kids and the responsibility, more so, to my husband. I've taken on a lot of work in the past few months thinking I could handle it all with the kids at school in the mornings. I over did it just a little with everything I thought I could do.

With that being said, I'm slowing things down around here. I appreciate everyone whose been following this blog and staying connected over at the face book page.

Starting March 1st, there will be several changes happening. I'm hoping they're only temporary, but only God knows the plans he has for me at this point in my life.

So, starting tomorrow you'll be able to find daily posts from me Monday - Friday over at my author blog at susanlower.com. You'll find some arts and crafts over there and some book creations, I promise. Along with updates on my writing and tips on making your online business successful.

I'll pop in here once in a while and post custom orders created and other book art on the weekends as I used to do in the past. So, essentially, Saturday and Sunday's will be post days here on MrsChadT.

My etsy shop will remain open, but forgive me as I will not be accepting as many custom orders as before, and definitely not projects that have to be completed in less than two weeks from the time of contact. I may still be young, but burning the mid night oil is for tax preparers and those who work  third shift. I'm a mom, and I get grouchy when I spend all night making books and all day tending my family and keeping up with my day job. Yeah, I have one of those too.

I will, however, still be hanging out on facebook and twitter. Please continue to visit me, say hello, and tweet. I'll tweet back I promise. I'm not going anywhere, I'm just temporarily downsizing and refocusing on the areas of my life I feel are most important right now.

You know me. I love making books. I love the feel of them, the smell of them, and the process of creating them. Both with paper, fabric, and glue, and writing them.

I have a feeling it won't be much longer before I share with you news of publication of my first novel, and Bell and I have been working on a few projects together too. So please continue to stay in touch both here and over at susanlower.com.

Don't forget to check out Saturday's book creation, it's going to be a jungle around here!

Mocha with a little Red Wedding Theme

I've been working on a custom order for a wedding guest book this past week. Sometimes to find inspiration I'll searched Google images. I thought this was perfect collection from Wedding Favors Unlimited for helping inspire the book for this custom order. The bride's colors are red, mocha, and white.

At first I was pictureing a white covered guest book with kraft signature pages and red photo pages, or white signature pages stamped in chocolate with red pages, then after seeing this, a whole new design came to mind.
I'll share that new design with you tomorrow. And let you see what the bride choose.

What design would you choose based on this kind of inspiration?

Gold Damask Peacock Feather Guest Book

This gold damask peacock feather guest book is from the Royal Garden Collection of paper designs that I have in the studio.

Hand stamped autograph style signature pages in ivory.

The photo pages in back of this guest book album are also ivory.

Have a great weekend everyone!

It's A Girl Baby Shower Guest Book

I've been working up a new design based on a special request for a custom order. Using the Art Philosophy Cartridge and some sweet little girl colors I've put together this baby girl shower guest book album.

What I really like about this cover design is that the colors can easily be swapped out in pink. It's hard to see by the second photo, but each page is design for a sweet message and a signature line at the bottom. I've still got to stitch this book together, and I'm thinking perhaps pink for the binding twine.

What do you think?

Lion Baby Shower Guest Book Album

I really like this stripped cover paper from 3 bugs in a rug. I've added a cute lion embellishment and a matching name card for a special baby boy.

I've binded it in a dark orange thread since the inside photo pages are green.

The greatest thing about these new striped cover designs is that I can coordinate them with almost any of the create a critter embellishments.

Lady Bug Love

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today's featured book is a new lady bug design I've created for birthday's and baby showers. I thought it fitting to share today with all the black, red, and white colors that seem to coordinate with Valentine's day.

A sweet little name card goes in the center of the book cover.

I tied it with red thread.

And here is the cute little saying on the first page. (author unknown)

I slipped in some red photo pages in the middle and placed gift record pages in the back. I just love lady bugs, that were my own little Bug got her name. :)

A Mournful Note

This past week I created this custom order for a special remembrance. I used some music note paper and shoe string binding to bring it all together. The inside pages are blank white sheets with a few music notes stamped in the corners and black photo pages.

Getting Back to Books

I'm sorry for the silence here this past week as I've been battling the flu, ran off to a book conference, and returned with a horrible cold that blocked my sinuses and made it difficult to breathe let alone think most days.

But not even that could stop me from making some really awesome books this week for all of you. I've had a lot of custom orders requests over at the shop, please keep them coming. I love custom orders!!

I've also been busy making re-visions to a novel and finishing up the first draft of another, which you can find out about more over on my author site.

I've been even playing with the idea of illustrating my own children's book using my paper craft skills. I've been creating some cute pictures with paper and die cuts lately, and one night at 3 am the story flowed through my mind. I guess that is what happens at 3 am when you can't sleep becuase your sinuses are so stuffed up you can't breath. :)

Anyway, these week we're getting back to book. That's what I love and what I do best. I'm still a Close To My Heart Consultant and you can find the link on the sidebar of my blog, it will no longer be at the bottom of my posts. I'm also happy to announce that I've signed on with 3 Bugs In A Rug and will carry their cute papers in my studio for book cover options as well. I've been using a lot of their striped papers lately for baby shower and birthday book designs and am happy to say that I can make a book design more than once now that I can buy wholesale from them. :)

This week I have a lot of great new designed books to share with you. Most of them are custom orders from the shop, and I'm currently working out some matching invitation designs to add in with the thank you cards I've been making too.

If you missed my open house on February 3rd, and didn't have  a chance to visit my new studio, then stayed tuned and I'll be posting photos next week. In the mean time, I'd love to hear what you all have been up to while I was gone. Did it snow? We sure got some!

Here Comes The Bride Wedding Guest Book

I made this book several months ago, intended for this very day. It's pages are blank, but the ends are punched with an EK SUCCESS punch to give it a elegant touch.

I added purple around the name card to bring out the eggplant color of the cover.

Can you hear the wedding bells? Somewhere there is a happy groom kissing his bride!
